can I share data COLLECTED with other Kobo users?

Hi

It’s pretty straightforward to share forms but I can’t seem to see if you can share data?

If we have two people collecting data, one partner collects the data and wants to share it with a facilitating partner is that possible?

Can we download the data in an XLS form and email to the other account?

Hi Karen,

You can invite another user to be able to view, or edit, your data. See http://support.kobotoolbox.org/customer/en/portal/articles/2103898-managing-permissions. But remember that this needs to be done from the project settings menu, top left of the page which also lets you download the data as an Excel file.

Hope this helps.

Hi Hugh

Thanks for this response, I suppose it’s not about viewing or editing the data but actually being able to upload the data in an XLS format into a different Kobo User account.

So if partner 1 collects data and wants to share all of the data with partner 2 is that possible, I was thinking that partner 1 could download all the data, email it to partner 2 and then partner 2 would be able to upload it.

Therefore both partners would “own” their own Kobo account and “own” the data between them in two accounts where each partner could visualise the data however they wished.

Hi Karen,

Sorry, I don’t know of a way to upload data in such a way.

This sort of thing may be possible through the API - perhaps someone with more experience of this could chime in?

Best,

Hugh
