I did clone from http://code.google.com/p/kobo/. But I don’t think it has the cascade selection code.

The cascading selection mods are in the Javarosa Library, with the other libs. We just made some changes to JavaRosa to support itemsets.
If you want to take a look at the nitty gritty, you can get the code repo from this branch of javarosa here: https://bitbucket.org/jetherton/javarosa
We’d love to know more about your project, and how you would like to use KoBo to do it.
