Hi Joe,

Mine was a typing error. Cross check the commands you are running.

Thanks for your reply. I did resolve mine through the kind gesture of Jake from Ripcord Engineering, he was incredible and was able to fix my issue and got me up and running within couple of hours. Thanks Jake for your help!

Hello Liz,

Since you’re a newbie, click here to read about deploying Kobo Toolbox. The first time I deployed Kobo Toolbox to an on-site server I was a newbie so it can be done if you’re willing to put in the time and effort. The one bit that’s absolutely critical is proving that your network configuration is correct. After that, it’s all downhill from there.

Regarding the error you’re encountering: the ERROR is telling you that you must run, “docker-compose pull”, in the same directory where the, “docker-compose.yml”, file is located.

Regarding deployment: depending on your use case it may be better to deploy Kobo Toolbox on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Sydney has availability zones so performance should be good presuming there’s good web connectivity between Auckland and Sydney.

Regards,

Jake

Hi Jake,

I installed kobotoolbox on my mac laptop. All codes executed without any errors. I think all the containers are running because the status said ‘up’ when I run docker-compose ps. However, when I browse http://172.17.0.1: 8000, it says The connection has timed out. The server at 172.17.0.1 is taking too long to respond. Below is my envfile.local.txt file. Did I miss any steps.

Grateful for your help.

Liz

DO NOT use “localhost” or “127.0.0.1” or containers will not be able to communicate with each other.

Hello Liz,

The odds are good that you have a network related problem. Click here, see Network Setup and Troubleshooting >> Basic troubleshooting.

The last two people I helped deploy Kobo also had network related problems which burned up an enormous amount of time. In the end, both deployments, which required web access, wound up on AWS in order to function correctly since local network problems could not be resolved.

Regards,

Jake

Thanks again Jake, I appreciate it.

Dear all,

Good morning ,
I hope this find you very well. I want to collect data offline from android or tablets to a computer in order to analyse it and see the errors for each enumerators and then they will correct it before sending it in a server. It will help also to secure the data. How can i do it? Do we have an application who can help to open the kobo file copied on the tablets in order to view the data?

I need your help. Your prompt attention to this message will be very appreciated.

Thanks
