Is this type of editable table/grid layout possible in KoboToolbox?

Hi everyone,

I am designing a household survey in KoboToolbox using an XLSForm, and I would like the interface in Kobo Collect (or Enketo) to resemble the table in my paper questionnaire.

For example, I have the following question:

Ideally, I would like the enumerator to enter all values in a single editable table, similar to Excel or the paper questionnaire, instead of opening each row separately.

My questions are:

  1. Is this type of editable table/grid layout possible in KoboToolbox?

  2. Can it be implemented in Kobo Collect, Enketo, or both?

  3. If not, what is the closest user-friendly alternative? (e.g., field-list, matrix, repeat groups, or another approach)

  4. If anyone has an example XLSForm or a recommended design pattern for this type of questionnaire, I would greatly appreciate it.

Question matrix (Creating a question matrix in the Formbuilder — KoboToolbox documentation) is exactly what you are looking for :slight_smile:

It can be implemented in Enketo web forms, not in KoboCollect.

The help article explains the process very well. Please take a look at it, and if you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask.
