Hi Johnny,
We’ve seen this issue before, I think it’s a known issue in Enketo Express. I’m sure we’ll get around to fixing it at some point in the near future. But in the meantime you could use workarounds like creating an intermediary calculate question such as concat(${name_of_applicant}, " ") to manually add that space in, then refer to that calculation question in your note.
