The BIG Picture

Is there a graphic which shows how Kobotoolbox functions? I am having difficulty getting the big picture. I thought it was that the supervisor would set up the form and the many data collectors would use that form in a subset of Kobotoolbox. What controls does my account give me? It looks like those who collect the data install the same Kobotoolbox software I installed so they have power to edit the questions. I’m trying to quickly evaluate this app to see whether or not we can use it, so any help is welcome. Thank you

Hi @tom8195t, could you explain this in more detail?

Maybe the community should be able to help you out then.

Thank you. The issue is getting 15 - 20 users collecting data and putting it in a kobotoolbox Form. Some users have computers, some only have Android phones. If they did like I did, they would load the software on their phone and / or mobile. If they put it on their computer, it looks like they would have the same privileges as myself to edit the form questions. But they should only be allowed to input the responses. It also looks that they would have edit privileges if kobo was on their Android – at the start, KOBO Android asks a new user to create a new project. But I don’t want that, the user should be directed to the form created by me.

Hello @tom8195t,

Let’s start with Data Collection tools. You can collect data through Enketo Web Forms or Android KoBo Collect You can find more in this article:

If you want to collect data through Enketo Web Forms you need to share the link which allows your users to fill the forms. More information can be found here:

If you want to collect data through KoBo Collect you can find more information here:
