Translating default answers

Hi all,

Is it possible to have default answers appear in different languages according to the language of the question? I’ve tried inserting on XLS with the “default::language” heading but no luck. The long way round would be to create separate questions per each language but that would complicate things a little too much.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,

I’m not aware of a way to translate the default response like that.

The simplest option (though not ideal) could be to use a translated ‘hint::xyz’ to imply or coach the person to enter the value.

But a better option could be to do a “select_one xyz or_other” with a default value where xyz is a one-item, translated choice list.

Note: this doesn’t let you translate the “other” text, so if you want to do that you would have to manually create the second “other” question and show it conditionally.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, Alex. I think your workarounds are the only way to do it.
