Skip/Branch Logic in Question Matrix Grid theme - hide questions when you choose an option

I would like to be able to hide question blocks depending on the chosen option. I’ve tried doing the relevant column using ${a}=‘0’ etc formulae but it doesn’t work, and here is the xlsform:
