Welcome to the community! Kindly please be informed that data collection options as outlined in the image below boxed as numbered 1 is related with how data collection should perform with the help of box number 2 that generates the link for the same. This link ultimately controls the way of data collection.
i.e. If you select Online-Only (single submission) and press the COPY or OPEN it will give you a link somewhat like https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/single/::zaBDBV55. Similarly, if you select Online-Offline (multiple submission) and press the COPY or OPEN it will give you a link somewhat like https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/x/#zaBDBV55.
Thus the returning back of Online-Offline (multiple submission) after refreshing the page should not affect the data collection once you have the desired link with you.

Thanks for the explanation.
From what I understand this behavior is by design then.
It remains however confusing as it looks more like a setting affecting the form rather than a dropdown box of available links based on form behavior.
I take not of this and will update our short URL accordingly.
