Error message when trying to deploy form - group name not found

I’ve edited my form, but now when I try to redeploy it (we are on version 12 now) I get the following message “Unexpected KoBoCAT error 400: b’{“detail”:“There has been a problem trying to replace ${group} with the XPath to the survey element named ‘group’. There is no survey element with this name.”}’”
Any ideas what is going wrong?
I have been updating the variable names with shorter and clearer names, so I am guessing something to do with this?

I’ve fixed it! I had a cascading question - and I’d changed the variable name of the first parent question from ‘group’ to ‘Survey_group’. Now changed back to group and all is redeploying fine.
