Freelance Form Designer / XLSForm Specialist for Agroforestry Data Collection – Karnataka, India

We are seeking a skilled form designer / XLSForm expert to develop a data collection form for our agroforestry project in India. The form will be used in the field, via KoBoToolbox / KoboCollect (or similar tools), to gather data from smallholder farmers, forest plots, and related agroecological assessments.

Note project areas primarily speak Kannada and the project is based in Karnataka.

Scope of Work:

  • Review our project requirements and variables (e.g. farmer demographics; tree species; soil type; forest cover; plot measurements; yield; etc.)

  • Design a well-structured, user-friendly form in XLSForm / KoBo format

  • Include logic / branching, skip patterns, validations (e.g., constraints, date checks)

  • Make the form available in local language(s) as needed (we can provide translations)

  • Test and revise based on feedback — simulate a few data entries to ensure the form works well in the field

  • Provide documentation / instructions on form use (e.g., for field enumerators), as well as export formats etc.

Deliverables:

  1. Finalized & tested XLSForm / KoBo form file ready for field deployment

  2. A short user guide for enumerators / field staff

  3. Any translation-ready version (if local language is to be used)

Timeline:

  • Start date: ASAP

  • Final delivery: 1-2 months

Hi Andy,

Interested, however I would like to share details via a message or email (unfortunately both seem not to be available). All deliverables can be complete within 1- 2 Weeks along with nice Power BI report for analysis. Already multilingual from the same region so the language barrier isn’t there.
