Help merge dataset from the roster to the main sheet

Bonjour à tous,
J’ai un soucis avec la structuration de mon fichier xls que j’ai exporté après ma collecte de données. Il se trouve qu’il y avait des “repeat group” dans mon formulaire ainsi lorsque j’ai exporté le fichier xls la partie “repeat group” s’est logé dans une autre feuille du classeur. Le problème est que je n’arrive plus à faire le lien entre les informations du “repeat group” et les autres qui sont dans une autre feuille également.
Merci de m’aider à ce sujet.

Hi @mmarwa, You generally see 2 or maybe more sheets in your downloaded xls dataset when you have repeat group questions within your survey questionnaire. Please note that the first sheet that is generally seen when opening your xls dataset is the main dataset. This dataset contains a variable named _index. The simplest approach is more of playing with excel functions as opposed to a KoBoToolBox approach. However since this is an issue face by most users, I will detail this here with external links.

APPROACH 1: IF YOUR UNIT OF ANALYSIS IS HOUSEHOLD

1. Step 1: Convert all your repeat data, which sit on separate excel sheets, from long to wide format. Kindly refer to this process to do this.

2. Step 2: Merge back all the converted new wide-format repeats back to the main sheet using the VLOOKUP approach. A third party video on this process is shown here.

APPROACH 2: IF YOUR UNIT OF ANALYSIS IS HOUSEHOLD MEMBER
In this case, you simply need to analyze the data per household member. In this case, you will need to simply bring the household data in the main sheet into the repeat sheet using the same VLOOKUP described above.
