what are the necessary condition and criteria for using different appearance like (w1, w2,…or w7) in design a survey form?

during my trial of design matrix question I come across the use of w1- w10, my question is how can i use w1- w10 appearance and with which condition will guide on usage of that appearance??

Kindly please have a look here to better understand the use of w1, w2 … w10 markup placed in the appearance column of an XLSForm. It has a workout of a survey form and an xlsform. It should give you a clear picture of how and when it is used while designing a survey form.

I managed to design a xls form but when i upload to kobo and try to edit this error message popup

mismatched group/repeat tags

the problem was internet connection after we get stronger internet connection the error didn’t pop up again
