Improving form usability for beginners with clearer field guidance

Hi KoboToolbox team and community,

I’ve been using KoboToolbox for creating forms, and it’s a very powerful platform :+1:

One small suggestion that could really help beginners is adding more in-field guidance or tooltips directly inside the form builder. For example, short hints explaining what each question type does or best practices for using certain validation rules.

When you’re new, it can sometimes be confusing to decide between similar options (like text vs. integer vs. decimal fields, or when to use constraints). Having quick inline explanations would make the learning curve much smoother and reduce mistakes during form design.

This would especially help users building surveys for the first time or working in field data collection under time pressure.

Thanks for considering this improvement :folded_hands:

@desdemona thank you for your fantastic suggestions. Would it be possible for you to provide a small screenshot illustrating what you’re describing? This would greatly assist us in our internal discussions with the team.
