Installing Kobo App On Computer with Screen Reader

Hello Community,

I am a blind computer user and recently purchased my first Kobo EBook. Can I access it at a online Kobo library, or will the Kobo App installed on my computer work with a notable screen reader such as Non-visual Desktop Access, NVDA?
If not, can I give the EBook away to a friend who may or may not have Kobo?
