Kobo Collect - 502 error when trying to download form list

Hi there, I am using the latest version of Kobo Collect (v2024 2.4), however when I go to Download form, after a few seconds I am getting an error:

Form list download failed
The server https://kc.ifrc.org returned status code 502. If you keep having this problem, report it to the person who asked you to collect the data.

The strange thing is, it seems to be account-specific. I have another account on the same server, and when I use that other account on the same device it returns the form list just fine.
Conversely, if I use the problematic account on Kobo Collect on a different device I get the 502 error.

I know my username and password and server are correct because I doublechecked - and also if I deliberately put the wrong password in I correctly get an Invalid username or password error.

What else can I try? I can log in to this account and see forms just fine on the kobo website - only having this issue when using the app.

Thanks for any advice or troubleshooting tips.

@nat, what is the total number of projects deployed (or being shared with) in that particular account that is returning a 502 error?

Hi @Kal_Lam for this account I have 48 deployed, 21 drafts, 16 archived.
It’s the account I use for testing, so the majority of these projects don’t have many submissions.

@nat, as a quick check would you mind archiving all the projects except the only one that you are trying to test to see how it behaves?

Hi @Kal_Lam I had already tried deleting some projects and archiving some projects before I logged this ticket - to make sure I was down to as few projects as I had when last using the Collect app previously - but it didn’t seem to make any difference.

It will take me a while to archive all of the remaining ones and remember which ones I’ve archived in order to unarchive the ones I need to keep open. Is there a particular number of projects I should aim for?

@nat, would you mind sharing with me your username through a private message so that I could have a closer look at your case? I assume you are one of the IFRC server. Feel free to correct if otherwise.

@nat, if you are using the superuser account try not testing the same with the Collect Android App. Instead, please try using a normal account for this and you should not have any issues for the same.

Thank you @Kal_Lam for confirming that it’s specific to my account setup (my privileges changed recently) - I will switch to my other account when using Kobo Collect, many cheers!
