KoboMobile an Android app for Kobotoolbox

Hi,
I just done developing an Android app for KoboToolbox

It lets you browse, validate, and export submissions, and a lot more

The app is 100% free and open source.

I’m more than happy if you reported any bugs or issues you faced within the app
Also, if you want any new features, feel free to share it with me and I’ll make sure to implement it.

The app still in beta version and I have alot of new features to be added in the app (the road map is very long )

you could download the app from github repository releases at this link:

If you want to contribute in the app please see the github repository:

Thanks. Would you mind to explain, please, what are the features not yet available through connecting to the Kobo dataserver from an Android phone?

Hi @wroos

I didn’t get what you asking for,
But if you’re question why using the app while I could use browser to enter the full features of KoboToolbox

A. The app is designed to work on mobile devices with great UI for small size screens not like KoboToolbox web page

If your question, what the features that already in KoboToolbox web page and still not available on the app

A. There is alot if features still not implemented, for example edit submission, export your form data, …etc
As you know KoboToolbox have a whole team behind it, on the other hand the app have developed just by one person (me ) for now I hope

If you asking about features available in the app and not available on the KoboToolbox web page

A. For now there is a few features, First as I mentioned it designed to work on small screens (Imagine you have to validate a submission via KoboToolbox web page from your android device - it’s so painful)
Second Deep Search: This feature only available on the app, it’s Allow you to search for submissions via instanceName in the whole account (all your forms)

I hope I answer your question

And if not, please could you clarify?

I recommend actively collecting feedback through GitHub issues and creating a public roadmap using tools like GitHub Projects or Trello, so users can track progress and suggest features. Also, consider publishing the app on the Play Store (even as beta) to make it more accessible to a wider audience and gather more testers. Keep up the awesome work—open-source projects like this are incredibly valuable!
