Dear community,
We are using Kobo toolbox for community household surveys. We’re not experts, and by accident, the surveys in 2 communties got mixed up and ended up in the same database. We would like to unmerge them and create 2 separate databases, one for each community. We’ve tried to do this in Kobotools, but haven’t found a way. Could someone please provide some advice if what we’re trying to do is possible in a not-too-onerous way? Many thanks!
Welcome to the community, @manuel_haas!
Could you explain if you had deployed 2 different surveys or how you managed the project which got mixed up? This should help us understand your scenario and help you out with the same.
Hi and thanks for the reply. We were actually using the same template in both surveys which were done in 2 separate communities. Instead of starting a new project in community#2, the surveyors added the questionnaires to the existing project done in community #1, so now both surveys are in the same database.
@manuel_haas, don’t you have any variables that can identify the community from where you are collecting your data? In this case, you will not need to have two different projects (to collect data from two different communities) for the same goal. Or maybe if it’s not too late, you could add a variable with the name community
that captures the community name from where the data is being collected.
Hi Kal, many thanks for your reply. We do have a field in the table that specifies the community by name. So after exporting the table to Excel, it’s possible to separate the data. We would however like to use the report function of Kobotools to do the analyses, one per community. This is currently not possible, since the data from both communities are mixed in the same data table, and Kobotools will create one report that merges both communities. Is there a way to separate the data in Kobotools, and create one report for each community in Kobotools? Cheers, Manuel
