I downloaded my data into SPSS, but the numeric values are taken as string values. I tried changing it on the TYPE column but it complains the values will be lost. I can’t do additions with the string values what can I do? For example I have 10 statements on Attitude on a product and I need to add them up to get the attitude score but since the type selected is string, I can’t compute the score. Kindly assist

Did you export as XLS values (not string option)??
