Query on Adding Land Use Land Cover (LULC) Map Layer in KoboToolbox

Dear KoboToolbox Support Team,

I am currently working on a project where we aim to integrate geospatial data with KoboToolbox forms. Specifically, I would like to know if it is possible to add a Land Use Land Cover (LULC) map layer as a basemap or reference layer within KoboToolbox.

Could you please confirm:

  1. If KoboToolbox supports custom map layers (e.g., GeoJSON, shapefiles, or WMS/WMTS services)?
  2. The steps required to upload or link such a layer for use in surveys?
  3. Any limitations or recommendations for ensuring compatibility?

Welcome back to the community, @sanjay_1234! You should be able to do the same by following the instructions as outlined below:

  • Go to DATA>Map. Then click the gear-like setting icon located to the right of the screen as shown in the image below:

  • Once the gear-like setting icon is pressed, the following dialogue box appears as shown below:

  • Name the layer map and then press the Upload button to upload a layer from your PC.

I think you should upload an image format that is supported by the GIS system for this.

I have tried the process that you

had outlined above however i am only able to overlay the outline of my map, while i want it to have more details like the image i have shared above. please help with how i can achieve the desired results. As you can see in the SS2 image, I am able to overlay only this much.

@sanjay_1234, have you tried using the image files with all those elements present that you wish to upload to the map for layers purposes?
