It sometimes would be very useful to not have the Return to Beginning button, if there are sequential questions where the next question essentially gives the answer to the previous question. So it would be useful to be able to remove the Back button on selected forms.

It seems that you are talking to refer to the following when trying to enter the data through Enketo aka web-forms.
You generally get this setting on every question if you have configured your form settings as follows:
In the xlsform (settings tab):
Formbuilder UI:
Configure your survey project as shown in the image below and you should not see this on every questions:
Or, simply remove the pages from the style column under the settings tab.
