Saved as Draft Forms in KoBoCollect android app cannot be submitted - Project is updated

Dear Colleagues,

One of my colleagues Saved Forms as DRAFT only during data collection; Then we updated the project (Brought couple of changes and replaced the xlsForm). Now we cannnot submit those draft forms to server. It says, the project is either moved or deleted? Is there any way please?

Could you also let us know the mode of data collection you had undergone i.e. did you use Enketo or the KoBoCollect android app? This should be helpful for us to troubleshoot your issue.

OK, you see this error message when you don’t have a blank form for the corresponding survey project i.e. when you accidentally do the following:

  • Open KoBoCollect android app
  • Press Get Blank Form to download a blank survey (say Project A) to your KoBoCollect android app
  • Once you have a survey project (say Project A) in your KoBoCollect android app you start collecting data for Project A.
  • Accidentally, you press Delete Saved Form>BLANK FORMS and then delete the blank form corresponding to the survey project (i.e. Project A) where the data collection is on going.

With this you are not able to Edit Saved Form or even Send Finalized Form to the server. But also be informed that the latest release of the Collect android app has overcome this issue and the same has no affect.

So the solution for your issue would be to Get Blank Form corresponding to your survey project from the KoBoToolbox server and have then in your KoBoCollect android app.

I have the same problem on kobo toolbox and “unable to edit saved form because the corresponding blank form is not present or deleted”? Have you got solution to your above mentioned error? Please help me if you reach the solution?

Welcome to the community, @Ahmednasir! You will need to have the blank form to make changes to your records. Maybe you could get the blank form from the server and then make edits when you have the blank form in your app.

i did get blank form and downloaded the form but it did not solved the problem. still data in the mobile can’t be edited.

I tried to upload as bulk submission that also shows me error.

Please any further help

Seems like these records have already been synced with the server. Maybe you will need to verify it once.

I also got the same issue. I deleted the Form used for data collection. However, it turns out that there are still project partners who keep their data in draft form. I’ve put back the form we used previously with the same name, but it still won’t submit to the server. Does this affect the difference in form ID? How can I overcome this?

@aryakdhani2018, in such cases, you can always manually upload your submissions to the server by following this support article Manually Uploading Submissions.
