Hello,
we have collected data though Kobo Toolbox in October 2019 and had submitted data from several devices (Samsung tablets). Recently, some of these devices got stolen. Besides changing passwords on Kobo for these accounts, is there anything else we could do in order to prevent the collected being used or misused? Do the forms create a local log form on the device that could be accessed without the Kobo password?
Thanks in advance,
Victoria
Hi @Victoria
So unfortunate for your loss. The data on the tablets could still be accessed by someone. When you change the password, they may not be able to submit or get new forms from the system.
Yes the forms get stored on the device within the folders

Thank you Stephane for your answer!
I understood that if you delete forms on the Kobo app of the device, the data is no longer accessible, but the forms remain accessible under the ODK folder. However, if one doesn’t delete the forms on the app, then forms AND entered data remain accessible under the ODK folder. Could you kindly let me know if this is correct?
Best wishes,
Victoria
Hi Victoria,
This is correct.

Stephane
