Context
Doctors Without Borders/MSF provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
The Field Resources Risk & Internal Control (FRRIC) Unit within MSF Operational Centre Brussels provides resources related to risk management and ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls to ensure compliance with MSF Standards, laws and regulations. FRRIC participates in the management of internal controls at different levels of MSF and develops tools and processes to achieve these objectives.
Task description
FRRIC has developed an internal control tool called “WeCheck” that uses Kobo. As the Kobo expert, your role is to be responsible for developing complex XLSForms, adapting the existent forms, do the testing in KoboToolbox and in WeCheck tool.
Goals of the engagement:
- Collaborate with the FRRIC team to understand the form requirements; and design, build, review and test XLSForms for use in KoboToolbox according to the needs provided by the FRRIC team.
- Adding complex calculations and logic, reviewing, and debugging.
- Ensure structural integrity and usability of XLSForms, including formatting and data validation.
- Set up complex conditional logic within forms to ensure that data collectors gather relevant and accurate information depending on previous answers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with formulas, formatting, or structural inconsistencies in forms. Do the testing in KoboToolbox and WeCheck tool.
- Provide technical support in KoboToolbox.
- Communicate and report the outcome to the FRRIC, FASU (Finance Application Support Unit) and IT department.
- Improve user documentation content.
Your profile
- Higher education and/or equivalent through minimum 1 year of professional experience in a similar role.
- Experience working with XLSForms or ODK XForms in the Kobo tool or similar is required.
- Professional experience in Kobo toolbox or similar tools and creating documentation materials is required.
- Experience managing data collection in humanitarian contexts is an asset.
- Prior experience with MSF or with international humanitarian organization is an asset

Operational details:

Commitment required: Full-time (35-40h/w)/ Mon-Fri 9am-5pm with enough overlap with CET.
- Main calls would be one 10-20 minute call per day for alignment purposes and a longer call once a week for planning & review.
- We’ll give you access to an MSF Kobo Toolbox account.

Geographical restrictions/preferences: Remote work.
Fluency in English (both oral and written).
Fluency in French is a strong asset.
