When I try to populate a household roster, the data cannot be retrieved from the parent file

Hi @Kal_Lam, I have got similar concerns on this. In my case, I have tried to play around with the sample XLSform shared through the support article and I should say most of the things work. However, when I try to populate a household roster, the data cannot be retrieved from the parent file. Any leads?

Thanks. However, the video is clear that dynamic attachments do not support repeat groups

In lieu of using a repeat group for your household roster - since they not supported for this - could you perhaps use a fixed number of (potentially) optional sections, once for each member? eg parent1, parent2, child1, child2, child3, etc. Not ideal I know, and it will put a max limit on the household size you can support, but it will avoid having to use a repeat group to capture the data.

Can you perhaps post both your ‘parent’ and ‘child’ forms? And is your problematic repeat group in the parent or child (or both)?

I used the sample forms shared on the support article and modified them. Here they are
Round_2.xlsx (12.0 KB)
Round_1.xlsx (15.0 KB)
I want to be able to get members of the HH in a repeat group (from a parent dataset) prefilled in the roster of the child form. Hope this makes sense

Since @janna did the video, I’ll drag her into the conversation to see if she might have any ideas for workarounds. (I havent played around with this particular feature myself much, yet…)

Hi!
Yes, it is a limitation, you can’t pull data that’s inside a repeat group.

Is it an option to collect the data in the main part of the parent questionnaire (as @Xiphware suggested above) and use it that way in the child form?
