Automated transliteration of 'Data column name' for Macedonian (and other Cyrillic script languages)

Hi,

As the topic says, I’m suggesting a very important feature for form building. When a Cyrillic script is used for defining questions and names, there is no automated transliteration Cyrillic→Latin for the ‘Data column name’. If the user creating the form does not define/enter these manually, then the form won’t be deployed because of duplicated values like ‘____’ as the system now transliterates the entries. It takes very long time to add all by hand, and usually novice users give up once they see the error when deploying, which usually is done once the survey is built since all the logic needs to be re coded as well.

Thanks,
Boris

@twibi, is your Cyrillic script in Unicode?

Hi @Kal_Lam ,

The Macedonian language keyboard uses Unicode as a standard for encoding characters, including those specific to the Macedonian language. UTF-8 is probably the specific encoding format for Unicode, but the keyboard layout itself is based on Unicode characters.

This is not a bug, rather a missing feature. All Latin characters are transformed right, but not the Cyrillic ones (as shown in the pictures). Those first needs to be converted (transliterated) from Macedonian Cyrillic to English Latin alphabet, and then transformed into small caps, underscores… for example: “ш” = “sh”, or “џ” = “dzh”.

I can send the complete pairs list for each letter from the Macedonian alphabet.

Best,
Boris
