Base labels vs. labels

Hello,

I am inheriting a bunch of old surveys and trying my best to clean and organize our entire surveying process. For each question in our existing surveys, there is a “label” as well as a “base label” in both the default language, and in English.

I haven’t been able to figure out why this is or what the purpose of a “base label” might be. I do notice that they show up as two separate rows when I go to manage the translations.

My question is two-fold:

  1. is there any benefit to having these base labels? For the sake of simplicity, can I just have a label and a “label::English” as with any example I see online where multiple languages are at play?
  2. If it would be appropriate to remove these base labels, what is the easiest way to do so? I would love to remove them en masse from the survey if possible as they appear in almost every question, but I cannot see how to remove them on an even an individual basis.

Thank you

Hi @brick and welcome back to the community!

Do you use the public Kobo servers or a private (custom) one? Because I don’t see this “base label” in my own multi-language forms?
