Best Practices for Designing Surveys with KoboToolbox

Hi KoboToolbox Community,

I’m creating surveys with KoboToolbox and want to make sure they are well-structured and user-friendly. Could you please share your advice on:

  • How to design questions for better data quality

  • Tips for handling skip logic and validations

  • Managing large forms with multiple sections

  • Any best practices for deploying surveys in the field (offline + online)

Your guidance and experiences would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance.

Hi @WebWolk and welcome to the community!

As you know, there are no simple and absolute answers to each of your questions.

Practice a lot, spend time in the forum, see what are the solutions to the problems people post, practice more, try to solve the problems people post and then look for the solution, practice and did I mention practice :innocent:

Also if you want you can check the KoboToolbox Academy:

I would also suggest to use the ODK XLSForm template, see ODK XLSForm Template - Releases - ODK Forum.
