Calculation with skipping questions - Kobo Collect app

Hi everyone !

I want to sum answers and then apply a condition to this sum. However, as I am using skipping logic, some values might not be answered. Here is my qquestionnaire :

(Q1)“Do you have A or B ?” (multiple choice : A / B / None)

(Q2)If A selected : “How much do you get from A ?”

(Q3)If B selected : “How much do you get from B ?”

(Q4)Calculate Q2+Q3

(Q5)“What is your income?” (Validation criteria : check that Q5 > Q4)

This calculation works fine as long as A and B are selected. However, when only A is selected for example, the validation criteria doesn’t work.

To solve that, I entered default values of 0. It is now OK for online submissions, but on the Kobo collect app it is still not working…

Do you know how I can solve this issue and set default values on the app as well ?

Hi,

You will need to introduce an if condition that returns value of 0 if either A or B is not selected.

Another question if I may : is there a tool to edit automatically the questionnaire in a readable way for my colleagues ? For instance a simple list of the questions, with the corresponding possible answers and conditional checks..

(Q2)If A selected : “How much do you get from A ?”

(Q3)If B selected : “How much do you get from B ?”

(Q4)Calculate Q2+Q3

(Q5)“What is your income?” (Validation criteria : check that Q5 > Q4)

This calculation works fine as long as A and B are selected. However, when only A is selected for example, the validation criteria doesn’t work.

To solve that, I entered default values of 0. It is now OK for online submissions, but on the Kobo collect app it is still not working…

Do you know how I can solve this issue and set default values on the app as well ?
