I have set a form of mine to Allow submissions to this form without a username and password and also Anyone with the link can view the form.
However all this seems to do is allow people to preview the form unless they are logged in. Only then is the option to Open the form given and data can be submitted. Is this the correct way for it to work or can a total stranger be allowed to enter data somehow?
Well if that is what you selected please be informed that `Anyone can view this form` will allow you to have a public link who can access your form without needing to login to your account. If they get that link there, they will be able to access all your questions. While if you select `Anyone can view submissions made to this form`, then anyone who have the access to that link will be able to view all your submissions stored in your project without having to login to your account.
But if you simply wish to have a link (for your project) with which they are able to make submissions without needing to login to your account, then you may need to have a look at the screenshot shared below:
From under the Project>FORM page check this setting `Allow submissions to this form without a username and password`. With this settings, the user filling the submission will not need to login (use your login credentials) to your account to make submissions. Then select the appropriate options to select the data collection method you wish and then press the COPY or OPEN button to get the appropriate survey form link which you could share it with your enumerators they could use for data collection.
You should be able to learn more about collecting data using the webform by following this support article Collecting data using web forms.
I see, thanks. I already had the ‘Allow submissions without a usename and password’ turned on, but I was using the link provided on the Settings>Sharing page. I didn’t think to get the URL from the form itself, slightly unintuitive to have to get it manually rather than the Sharing page, but it does work.
