Editing data from former versions to synchronized excel export

Questions in my project has been changed over time. So, the same questions also have different labels now. For exampe, in version 1 the question was: ’ Country’ (Text), Now, the question is not ‘text’ but 'select_one".

Now, for analysis reasons, we want the country Rwanda always to be spelled the same which is happening in the new version. However, the data from earlier submitted forms have Rwanda spelled in many ways: RWANDA, RWAndaaa, etc.

I tried to edit this in the Table in the kobo webversion, but for some reason that doesn’t solve the problem. So, when I edit questions that don’t exist in the current version, they don’t show up in the synchronized excel sheet.

can anyone help me?

@hesterbrinkers, did you try editing the submissions in bulk? But please try it in your dummy project first so that we you are used to how it works.

I understand how it works, so the editing part is not the problem. My issue is that editing the form from ‘now non-existing’ questions doesn’t change anything in the sync excel sheet. Hope I make myself clear
