Error 404 While Submitting Forms Using Dynamic Data Linking

We are currently facing a critical issue while submitting forms to the server using the Kobo Collect app. Our study is a longitudinal cohort study, where we collect data from each participant at multiple time points. To facilitate this, we are using dynamic data linking to connect different forms.

However, whenever our team attempts to send data to the server, we encounter a 404 error, making it difficult to proceed with data collection. We have attached relevant screenshots of the error for your reference.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Welcome to the community, @apiped_cohort! 404 error code indicates the server couldn’t find the requested webpage or resource. Essentially, it means the user’s browser successfully connected to the server, but the specific page they were trying to access doesn’t exist or has been moved.

Could you also ensure that the device is securely connected to the network? BTW, does your submission also have media files?

The data we are trying to access is stored on the server, and the device is securely connected to the network—it is able to fetch the required data without any issues. However, the issue occurs specifically when we attempt to submit the filled form using the Kobo Collect app; at that point, we receive an error.

Interestingly, when we use the web link to fill and submit the same form, the error does not occur.

Yes, our form submissions also include media files, which are an essential part of the data being uploaded.

@apiped_cohort, if you do not have any issues with the web browser submitting the data and only have issues with the Collect Android App, then have you checked the settings to Settings>Form management>Form update>Blank form update mode>Exactly match server?

If you are still having issues here, then I could try it with a dummy dynamic data project in my Collect Android App to see if there are any issues. Let me know on what happens.

Thank you for your response. The settings are configured as you mentioned. However, we are frequently encountering an issue where, although the data is sometimes successfully submitted to the server via the Collect Android app, at other times it returns a 404 error. This problem occurs intermittently and needs to be resolved.

@apiped_cohort, in this case, it seems likely that the issue is related to the network.

@Kal_Lam , Thankyou for response.
My concern is why the network issue arises specifically when submitting forms through the Collect Android app, whereas no such issue occurs when submitting the same forms via the web link.

I am able to access a shared form via web but unble to download form using Android. I need help

we still have issue using Android app to downlaod form. The shared form works with browser but Android is unable to download the form.

we followed these steps ‘‘if you do not have any issues with the web browser submitting the data and only have issues with the Collect Android App, then have you checked the settings to Settings>Form management>Form update>Blank form update mode>Exactly match server?’’ after that the download is not showing again.
