Generic Exception (500) error when trying to upload finalized forms with large (>10mb) GPX file attachments

Hi. We have a large data collection exercise ongoing with multiple projects deployed. One of the projects has not been able to send the finalized forms for the last few weeks and gives a ‘Generic Exception (500)’ error message. This error only occurs when trying to send forms with large GPX files attached as media attachments. I have tested with smaller files and non GPX files and the forms send without issue. I have also tested on multiple devices and the issue is consistent across all the devices. I cannot test using Enketo as the files are larger than 10MB.
Interestingly, if I load the GPX files into QGIS and re-export them as smaller GPX files, the forms will send but this is a very long process.

It seems a lot of people have been reporting this Generic Exception (500) error recently on the community - any ideas on why this has suddenly started happening? And how to solve it?

Welcome to the community, @dtrank_master! Could you let us know what you’re using to submit data? Are you using the Collect Android app or Enketo (web forms)?

Hi @Kal_Lam , thanks for your quick response. We are using the Collect Android app but I have tried to send the forms using ODK collect android app as well and it seems to have the same problem. We can’t use Enketo because the GPS files are larger than 10mb so Enketo won’t accept them.
