GPS Issue Always Poor Accurancy

Title: GPS Location Not Working in KoboCollect (Android)

Message:

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with GPS location in KoboCollect on my Android device.

When I try to capture location in a form, it either:

  • Keeps loading / “Waiting for location”, or

  • Returns inaccurate or 0.00 coordinates

I have already tried the following:

  • Enabled High Accuracy location mode

  • Granted full location permissions to KoboCollect

  • Disabled battery optimization

  • Tested GPS outdoors

  • Reset GPS using GPS tools

But the issue still persists.

Device details:

  • Phone model: [Sumsung A15]

  • Android version: [16]

  • KoboCollect version: [2025.3.3]

I would appreciate any help or suggestions to resolve this issue.

FWIW, I’m using a similar Samsung A17 running Android 16 and KoboCollect v2025.3.3, without any problems. So I dont think it’s a compatibility issue.

I might suggest you try installing a lower-level GPS-specific app, eg GnssLogger or GPS Status, just to confirm perhaps that its not a hardware issue on your particular device.
