Inability to use form editor on website on an XLS-uploaded form

I had to clone, edit and deploy a form that has been deployed on kobo previously. The form cloning failed repeatedly so I made corrections through XLS and uploaded the same onto the platform. The form is still uneditable in the form builder and the page crashes every time I go to the ‘Edit form’ option. For minor changes, I am having to alter the XLS and upload new forms every time.

The error message says the page has become unresponsive.

Why is this happening? The form is working fine and collecting responses but I am unable to use the edit option.

Hi @pallav2322 and welcome to the community!

Can you share a screenshot of the issue you are getting? And can you tell us which server you are using?

I am using the Europe server.

@pallav2322 can you tell how many questions you have in your form? And can you try to see if using another browser gives the same error?

Yes, I am getting the same error on a different browser as well. There are 115 questions in this form.

@pallav2322, have you validated your XLSForm that you downloaded through this online validator to see if there are any syntax issues there?

Yes, the form is opening when I upload it here.

@pallav2322, would you mind sharing with me the following through a private message? Maybe I could have a closer look at your case.

  • Username
  • Project name
  • Server

You should be able to send me a private message as outlined in the post discussed previously:

@pallav2322, Please be informed that I had no issues cloning and deploying your cloned project. FYR …

OK, I also see that the system is timing out when you try to make edits to your form because you have 3350 list_name namely label in your XLSForm. See image below:

When you have that long a choice option in your choices tab, we recommend using the external choices so that the system does not time out your request.

You should be able to learn more about the same in this community post discussed previously:
