Issues with downloading ZIP files

I need help downloading ZIP files on my Kobo account.

At first I thought it was a problem with just one form. But now it happened on almost all active forms.

A ZIP file with attached photos is prepared for uploading, but as soon as I download it, I can’t unzip it because it says the file is incorrect or broken.

Maybe someone knows a solution to this problem?

Welcome to the community, @ukr018! Could you kindly list out the steps so that we could try to replicate it at our end and see if it’s an issue in the system?

@ukr018, try using this approach as outlined in this post discussed previously:

This is not a solution for me, because we are using Kobo for humanitarian reasons, and it is important for me that each file is in its own folder and not all together.

Also, I don’t understand why much larger projects used to download normally, but I can’t download a project with 17 answers. This happened almost immediately after subscribing to Kobo. (the request clearly does not exceed 30 minutes)

Is there any other way to fix this? Because now it has spread to all projects and we can’t work.

@Kal_Lam Could you suggest any other solution? Because your version doesn’t work correctly on my project, and half of the files failed to upload.

I can’t download files in any of my projects.

@ukr018, did you try the exact steps outlined in the support article? But when looking at your screenshot I can confirm that the image files and pdf files have been downloaded. Maybe you will need to check all the file formats that you wish to download when the option pops up in the downloadthemall before downloading your media attachments.

@Kal_Lam Yes, I did everything right. In projects that don’t have word files, it downloads everything, but this is not a solution for me, because we are using Kobo for humanitarian reasons, and it is important for me that each file is in its own folder and not all together.

@Kal_Lam , I also noticed that the documents that failed to download (and which I manually upload each one) do not have the name as stated in the Exel table, but have the name “original”.

@ukr018, maybe try this Python snippet if it’s urgent (until we make the feature live) …

@Kal_Lam
No. It’s not working. I still think that the problem is in your platform and I don’t know how I can manually extract this data.

Not a single downloaded file!

Why did I use Kobotoolbox for almost a year without any problems?

@ukr018, could you provide me the following through a private message? Maybe I could have a closer look at your case.

  • Username
  • Project name
  • Server

You should be able to send me a private message as outlined in the post discussed previously:

@ukr018, when downloading your media, I observed that the project name was very long. You will need to make your project name short so that the download works effectively.

I’ve already done it. It doesn’t work.
