Welcome to the community, @csa_iitb! You could always use the Matrix Question to design your form with two columns, as you have outlined. You could follow this support article. Using the formbuilder approach is simple, as you will not need any syntax knowledge.
If you are planning to use syntax, then this is also possible through the XLSForm. Here is a reference of how you could design the same.
