I use KoboToolbox/Collect for field surveys, and I’ve collected about 500 questionnaires. However, I noticed today that some of the questionnaire data has been deleted (or at least has disappeared) and doesn’t appear in Kobo’s automatic report or when I export the data to Excel…
What concerns me is that for questions that have been mandatory since the very first version was deployed, the report shows, for example, 30 responses out of 500, which is not normal.
How can I retrieve this data? What is the problem?
[EDIT]
Apparently I’ve exceeded the storage limit for the free plan, which could explain why some data was lost. My question is, if I switch to another plan (paid one), will I retrieve these data ?
Welcome to the community, @elisamatte! Could you kindly let us know the total number of submissions that has been deleted from your account/project? Did you delete them accidentally or did you delete them on purpose?
I did not delete them on purpose. They “disapeared” when I started to exceed the storage capacity of the free plan. It reprensents around 350 MB, as you can see in the screenshot below.
I wanted to know if I can retrieve the data by paying a plan or if the data are lost?
Yes I checked and tried to download datas trying different means but still can’t retrieve the data.
In the report, for example for 1 question that is mandatory, it says that 413 out of 492 were without data… But I know we answered the question each time since it’s mandatory. So I don’t understand.
Please note that mandatory questions are only ‘mandatory’ if they are also relevant [sic]. That is, you can have an explicit mandatory question (ie required = true) but if it also happens to have an associated relevant expression that evaluates to False, or is in a group with a relevance that is currently false, then the question will consequently be blank/unanswered.
