We had setup a questionnaire including some maps which worked well before the new release on April 15th.
Since then, the map functionality is not available any longer on mobile devices which initially have a portrait mode orientation. The mobile website for those devices look like this:
When switching to desktop view or when using a mobile device with landscape orientation, the map appears correctly.
Thus, have there been any changes in the geopoint or map code parts within the new release 2.025.02 ?
It looks like the appearance as “placement-map” has been deleted or set to empty.
Thus, the form might not be interpretated correctly any longer (… like in Can’t collect location (map) on mobile - User Support / Form Building - KoboToolbox Community Forum …)
Might that deletion of appearance have come with deploying (and adapting to) the new release?
@guido_bohmann, have you also tried this on a large screen for e.g., a P,C to see how it behaves?
As said, we did not face any problems with an empty value for appearance when using desktop(-like) devices after the new release.
Adding “placement-map” into the empty fields of the appearance column of the XLS(X) sheet also seem to work for both types of device now. So, we hopefully were able to fix it.
The question remaining is: how did it happen and will it happen again when another release will be deployed?
