Media links broken after unarchiving project – BlobArchived error

Hello Kobo Community,

We’re running into an issue after unarchiving a project where all photo/media attachments are no longer accessible.

When attempting to load media files, the links return the following error:

BlobArchived
This operation is not permitted on an archived blob.

This suggests that while the project itself has been unarchived, the underlying media blobs may still be archived and therefore inaccessible.

Context:
• The issue affects all image attachments in the project
• Media was previously accessible before the project was archived
• The problem appeared immediately after unarchiving

Question:
Is there a way to rehydrate / unarchive all media files associated with a project so that attachments become accessible again?
If this requires action on Kobo’s side, any guidance on the correct process would be greatly appreciated.

@Kal_Lam Even if the answer is that the data is unrecoverable, we need to know that as soon as possible so that we can begin the arduous task of digitizing all of the data again. Please reply as soon as you can

This is not a new request. Please scroll up to the beginning of the thread started by my colleague lpaquete .

We scanned images of contracts into a kobo form. Then the kobo form was archived accidentally. Once the form was unarchived the scanned images of contracts are no longer accessible. We receive the following error message when we try to download the image: “This operation is not permitted on an archived blob.”

So it appears as if the images are still archived despite the form itself already having been unarchived.

@lpaquete, @hamiltonrm, it appears that you are using a private KoboToolbox server (https://surveys.oneacrefund.org/) rather than the public KoboToolbox server.
