Respondent issues with link provided to fill in questionnaire

Hello,

I deployed an online questionnaire a few days ago and received various emails from prospective respondents not being able to open the questionnaire, while others didn’t have problems at all.

It seems that where connectivity is an issue (slow internet), the questionnaire doesn’t load; probably due to a lag in connecting to the server.

Is there a connectivity difference associated with the online links: online-only (single submission) vs online -only (once per respondent)?

What else can I do to ensure that respondents can actually open my questionnaire?

Thanks for your reply,

Nope, they all go via the same connection. The only difference is what Enketo does after a successful submission.

If you have a form with very large associated media - eg pictures (or audio) to go with questions, or large external dataset files, or a linked DDA parent form with a large number of submissions - then these may cause issues trying to load all the form data across a bad connection.

If you are having serious issues then I might also suggest looking into KoboCollect for data collection instead. Once the form and associated files are loaded once, then you can do as many submissions as you like whenever you like without having to refetch. And if a particular submission fails (eg due to poor connectivity) then you can still fill in further forms and just re-submit when you get back into better coverage - the unsubmitted ones will just sit on the device until you are able to retry.
