Some data cannot be saved as a draft on Enketo

Hi Team,

I developed an online questionnaire survey form using XLSForm. Although i have encountered no error message with the deployment, I found one issue on saving a draft answer on Enketo.

I tried the following steps:

  1. fill out all questions on Enketo
  2. click ‘Save Draft’
  3. load the saved data from the left pane

When I load the saved data, some answers became empty. There is no error message appearing.

I confirmed the followings:

  • Empty answers happened regardless of types of questions. (e.g. ‘select_one’, ‘select_multiple’, and ‘text’ all worked for some questions (properly saved) but not for some questions (not saved).)
  • This is nothing to do with the length and complexity of the XLSForm, (My XLSForm is a bit complex (100 rows in survey sheet and 500 rows in choices sheet). But the problem persists even if I reduced them to 8 rows and 150 rows, respectively,)

So, I have no idea why all data are not saved and not sure how to fix this.

Sorry to hear you’re having problems - to help with troubleshooting it would be really useful to know which server you are using, and also if you could upload a copy of the XLSForm for your questionnaire (probably the short/reduced version!)
I know that new forum users are sometimes unable to upload file attachments initially, but you should be able to after reading a few more posts…

I use the Global KoboToolbox Server (https://kf.kobotoolbox.org/).

Here I attached the redacted version of my XLSForm (and csv file for data preloading). Hope they help. (some other question types such as select-multiple and text were also included, but removed from the redacted one.)
