I’m wrestling with Kobocollect data imported into Excel lately as showin by this error message: “Initialization of the data source failed. Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available and then try the operation again…”
I’m the data administrator. In kobocollect settings, I made sure that both sharing options “anyone can view this form” and “anyone can view submissions made to this form” are checked. Then, in data download, I selected the questions I want and exported the file. I copied the link: https://kobo.humanitarianresponse.info/… obtained the export settings data url xlsx data_url_xlsx": "https://kobo.humanitarianresponse.info/api/v2/assets/.......xport-settings/e........../data.xlsx (for security reasons I’m not providing my project details) which I took to Excel 365 and I pasted as data from the web. Up to this stage the file works perfectly: I can do analysis and refresh data. But all the joy ends when I close the file. Whenever I reopen the file, the refresh option becomes disabled: I can work with the file, but I can’t refresh the data.
When I don’t close the file excel works excellently with Kobocollect. For example, I created I file with exported data from Kobocollect for long hours yesterday. I went to sleep leaving the file open and today I could refresh data without a problem. But I cannot leave the computer open all the time. Can anyone assist? I thank you in advance. Chibeba.
