Fail to download Media attachments(ZIP)

Please help…not able to download Media attachments - ZIP file. It always says failed while trying to export.

Hi @sujitshrestha and welcome to the community! I too am having the problem that when trying to download media attachments via Zip file I only ever get ‘failed’.

It seems to be a problem introduced in the last release - I can see that others have logged this issue too. It looks like the KoBo team are working on it, but in the meanwhile their suggested workaround is to download the attachments separately:

Have you tried using downloadthemall as outlined in the support article Downloading Photos and Other Media? It should solve your issue. In the mean time we will look at the Media Attachments (ZIP) more closely to see what is not working and reach you back if we find any issues.

Thank you @nat for your prompt response. I tried downloadthemall but it was not able to download the file containing Unicode characters and in my case most of the media file names containing Unicode characters.

@sujitshrestha, @nat, please be informed that this issue has been fixed, and you should now be able to download your Media Attachments (ZIP) smoothly without any issue.

Thank you to everyone who reported the ZIP export issue for large exports (over about 50 megabytes). We have deployed a fix for this now (2.021.24a) to both servers.
