Our office is developing forms for our data partners to submit locations of rare species. We would like the user to have the option to view satellite imagery when entering point, line or polygon data.
Has Enketo multiple map layers in geo widgets been implemented in Kobo (see: http://blog.enketo.org/geo-layers/)? If so, how is it implement? When importing the sample xls template from Enketo (see attachment) the ability to change background layer is not implemented; there is not a globe icon to access this feature in the upper right corner of the map as in the demo when run on the Enketo site. Panning and entering points in the geo widgets seems a little buggy too.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hi Greg,
That’s a good point, it should work with the different geo layers as described in the post you linked to. We’re looking into it.
Best,

Dear All,
has there been any progress on this? I have just deployed enketo’s ultimate geo widgets under KoBoToolBox here. The KoBo deployment uses OpenStreetMap – is there a way to change this to Google maps? For our project (beekeepers submitting the locations of beehives) a satellite layer would be extremely useful, the default OpenStreetMap is simply not detailed enough in the rural places the hives typically are.
Hi Stephane,
sorry for the “outsider” question, but what is “your side”? I can see that there are many components in the “xlsform universe”, e.g. Enketo, ODK, Pyxform, the KoBo formbuilder, etc… but I still don’t know who is from which side . For my projects hosted on the kobotoolbox.org servers (+enketo) Google maps seems to be unavailable in any of the map widgets. But maybe I miss something elementary…
I have a minimal knowledge on the Google Maps Javascript API, and I would be happy to do some experimentation with my API key – if somebody could point me into the right direction…
Dear @stephanealoo, dear @tinok,
I would still be very grateful for any pointers into the right direction. It would be sooo good to be able to have Google Maps as an engine also in KoboToolbox. (I am also very happy to do my research & contribute with testing, etc… )
Thanks a lot,
Bálint
For the record: the Enketo Map Layers feature seems to be working perfectly now. (It has been working at least since 14 March… so it may be corrected in a previous(?) Enketo update…)
Big thanks,for repairing this flaw.
